New Demonstration and Innovation Day showcasing the latest technologies in the agricultural industry - Royal Welsh Cymru

Sefydlwyd Cymdeithas Amaethyddol Frenhinol Cymru yn 1904, a chynhaliwyd y sioe gyntaf yn Aberystwyth yn ystod yr un flwyddyn.

Mae’r gymdeithas wedi datblygu’n helaeth iawn ers y dyddiau cynnar hynny, ac mae tri digwyddiad y Gymdeithas, sef yr Ŵyl Wanwyn, Sioe Frenhinol Cymru, a’r Ffair Aeaf, wedi dod yn ddigwyddiadau pwysig yng nghalendr amaethyddol Cymru.

Showcasing some of the latest technologies available to farmers and the wider agriculture industry, the very first Demonstration and Innovation Day will be held at the Royal Welsh Showground on Tuesday 19 March.

Sponsored by the Royal Welsh Agricultural Society and CARAS Wales (Council for Awards of Royal Agricultural Societies) this new one-day event will be free to attend. Farmers, agricultural leaders, businesses and students can benefit from over 40 exhibits of the latest technology available to agriculture, forestry and horticulture.

Bringing together universities, colleges, organisations and businesses from across Wales, this new event will feature displays on telematics, drones, soil management, robotics, genomics, security, GPS, to name just a few. All aimed at improving efficiency and increasing production through ‘precision farming’.

Throughout the day there will also be an opportunity to hear from our notable guest speakers on a number of interesting and inspiring topics;

  • Mr Tim Bennett, Centre for Innovation Excellence in Livestock: New Government funded agri tech centres
  • Mr Alastair Taylor, Institute of Agricultural Engineers: Engineering, science and technology in the agriculture environment
  • Mr Iain Clarke, Coleg Cambria – Llysfasi: Educating the next generation and the rapidly changing world of technology
  • Mr John Owen, Coleg Sir Gâr: The Slurry Project, a de-watering system at Gelli Aur; using technology developed by Power & Water a Swansea based Technology Company
  • Mr Graham Higginson, Harper Adams University: Agri-tech for the arable sector
  • Mrs Eirwen Williams, Farming Connect: Helping producers adopt new practices, benchmark performance, share ideas, address market needs and embrace innovation

The day presents the perfect opportunity to witness new and affordable technology and innovation first hand and hear from industry leaders as we look towards securing the future of Welsh Agriculture in these uncertain times.
